Heritage Basketball: Boys Steamroll Brookstone, Girls Remain Undefeated

On Friday, the Heritage Hawks Basketball teams hosted region games against Brookstone. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams looked to remain unbeaten in region play, and the girls were looking to stay undefeated on the season.


The girls’ team started off the night with a 46-27 win over the Cougars. Sara Cushing led the team with 19 points, including five three-point shots. Lailah Logan was right behind Cushing with 18 points. Julia Susla also contributed to the box score with 5 points, and Susan Grayton Pass with 4.


The boys’ team started off the game slowly on offense, with 8 points in the first quarter before an explosive 23-point second. Max Skidmore led the team with 18 points with Mason Bolinger racking up 16 points, each hade 4 three-point shots. Barron Ofosu-kwarteng had 10 points. Sam Mead added 8 points, Coleman Hellgeth added 6 points, and Ian Hall added 2 points. Hawks got the dominant 60-39 victory over Brookstone.


Lady Hawks extended their undefeated season with another win on Saturday against Praise Academy 43-11 in a game that was played in State Farm Arena. Lady Hawks are now 14-0 on the season and 2-0 in region play. The boys’ team extended their winning streak to 5, winning 14 of their last 15 games, the one loss being a 2-point loss to Carrollton. The boys remain unbeaten at home (5-0) and improve their record to 15-2 and 2-0 in region play.


Boys will travel to St. Mary’s for a region game on 1/22. They will return home on Thursday for more region play against Pacelli (rescheduled from 1/16) following the girls’ game which will tip-off at 6:00.
