Northgate Earns Second Straight Victory at Swim Coweta Cup

On Tuesday, the Coweta Cup for Swimming was held at the Newnan YMCA. It featured swimmers from all 5 high school swim teams for the first time in the history of the event. With lots of talent from veteran swimmers to freshmen competing, it was competitive in every event.
Northgate Girls were dominant in every aspect, winning every single girl’s event of the night. The boys’ events saw a lot of success from Trinity, who won 4 individual events and 2 team events. Northgate won the other team event and added 2 individual events. East Coweta and Heritage each won an individual event.
This upcoming weekend is the GIAA Swimming State Championships which will be hosted at Georgia Tech, which will include athletes from Heritage. Then during the first week of February, the GHSA State Championships will be hosted at Georgia Tech. 1A-5A will be on Wednesday, February 7 with prelims in the morning beginning at 9:30 am and finals in the afternoon beginning at 6:00 pm. 6A will be on Friday, February 9 with prelims in the morning beginning at 9:30 am and finals in the afternoon beginning at 6:00 pm. 7A will be on Saturday, February 10 with prelims in the morning beginning at 9:30 am and finals in the afternoon beginning at 6:00 pm.
