Friday night, the Heritage Lady Hawks went on the road to a neutral site Elite 8 game against Terrell Academy in the GIAA Class AAA State Playoffs. Despite a strong start to the season, the Lady Hawks finished region play at 5-3 and fell to Pacelli in the district championship. Their early season success is not to be overlooked. Starting the season 14-0, the Lady Hawks used much of that success to earn a top-4 seed in the playoffs and a first round bye.

Lady Hawks fell to Terrell 53-46, but fought hard until the very end of the game, and inevitably their season. Julia Susla led the team in scoring again with 23 points, accounting for half of the Lady Hawks’ score. Susan Grayton Pass had 8 points, Aliyah Shaffer had 7, Sara Cushing had a 3 pointer, and Georgia Tolleson with 2 points to round off the scoresheet.

On Saturday, the Trinity Lady Lions travelled to Milledgeville for their Sweet 16 matchup in the GHSA Class AAAA State Playoffs against the top-ranked Baldwin Bravettes. Falling short of a region championship this season, the Lady Lions were looking to have the same success in the playoffs as last year where they fell in the Elite 8 to Holy Innocents. After a victory against LaGrange, falling to Starr’s Mill, but another victory in the region tournament, the Lady Lions secured the 3-seed heading into the state tournament.

Lady Lions were able to defeat Bainbridge on the road 64-44 in the first round, but then were eliminated by Baldwin 62-42. Senior Gabbie Grooms led the team with 23 points, including 16 in the second quarter alone. Madison Bennett added 12 points with a couple 3-pointers. Kyva Holloway had 3 points, Avari Cannon had 2 points, and Reese Anderson added 2 points from the free throw line.

Earlier in the week, Northgate Lady Vikings went on the road and fell to the top ranked team in Class AAAAA, Union Grove 65-50. The East Coweta Lady Indians also fell on the road to the #3 ranked team in Class AAAAAAA, North Paulding 68-33.
